Uniforms: Enlisted, Infantry

The Uniform of Private Thomas Kinsley
Massachusetts
45th Infantry, Company A, Circa 1862.

This uniform is a classic example of the Union Infantry Frock Coat identifiable by it’s blue piping. It is adorned with two post war reunion medals named to the recipient. Kinsley was a nineteen year old Salesman when he enlisted in this Boston based Regiment September 26, 1862. The coat is Government Issue made by one of the many contractors of the period. Kinsley survived the war passing away April 11, 1916 and his uniform was lovingly maintained in pristine condition.
